Want Your Emails Read? Keep them to 50 Words

In today’s go-go-go world, people want and demand information to be on point. Once you get the reader’s attention, you can then offer more details.

People read about 200 to 250 words per minute. Approximately, that’s 50 words for each 15 seconds.

As such, we suggest writing all of your emails smartphone-friendly or scan-friendly. These types of emails are fewer than 50 words and take 10 to 15 seconds to read. Use very short paragraphs and bullets.

Need to send a lengthy email? Break it into two parts. The first part is the short version, summarizing your key points. The second part is the long version, offering the details and goes below your signature line.
