Check, Re-Check, Check, and, Check Again

The other day, we received an email from Julia, a student, with a cover letter in response to an intern position we had open. What surprised everyone was her cover letter was addressed to a different company. Yes, a different company.

We emailed Julia to let her know of her mistake. She apologized and wrote, “I hope that this does not affect your decision.”

It certainly does and did.

Each of us has just ONE opportunity to make a positive first impression. Positive first impressions are lasting impressions. And Julia did not make a good one.
