Customer experience IS the difference between your competition and you.
Organizational culture IS the key to long-term employee retention.
Great communication IS the glue for everything inside and outside your organization.
To ensure your organization has all three, The Chief Storyteller®‘s founder, Ira Koretsky, designed over 100 Smart Exercises and Smart Icebreakers (examples below).
BUILD & MAINTAIN EMPLOYEE SKILLS
These Smart Exercises and icebreakers are customized to your training and learning objectives. The Smart Exercises help your teams build, enhance, and maintain a variety of skills such as listening, interpersonal, customer service, sales/development, creativity, team building, communication, public speaking, storytelling, and leadership.
Ira started developing these Smart Exercises the day he started performing improvisational comedy professionally. That day was April 1, 1994. That was the day his eyes were opened to a whole new way of thinking and a whole new way of appreciating the personal and professional worlds around him. Combining his business experience with his improv skills, Ira continuously develops and refines new experiential Smart Exercises and icebreakers.
HANDS-ON & CUSTOMIZED
All Smart Exercises are hands on and customized to your professional development learning objectives.
Together, The Chief Storyteller ® and your planning team collaborate on what Smart Exercises would work best for your learning development programs. Then you collaborate on the learning objectives, takeaways, level of involvement (individual to group), emotional level (fun to serious), best size (10 to 10,000), and so much more (visit Meeting Planners to learn how The Chief Storyteller® team works with you).
EXAMPLE BUSINESS EXERCISES
Here are several examples. We always customize our programs and Smart Exercises to your learning goals. Contact us to learn more.
|Treat Everyone Like a CEO™||Appreciation||This is the number one executive leadership and strategy exercise on YouTube. It is a very powerful exercise. It gets you thinking VERY differently about how you view others, treat others, and in the end, how you view and treat yourself (view all of our videos).|
|1-2-5-10||Presentation/Public Speaking||A favorite of our founder, Ira Koretsky, 1-2-5-10 improves your public speaking and storytelling skills dramatically. First, you create and deliver a one-minute presentation. Then, you expand it to two-minutes, five, and 10. Following our process will equip you with fundamental tools you can build upon, to up your public speaking game (learn more).|
|What’s Your BTM™||Messaging||What is the main message, the one BIG idea you want to communicate to your audience? At The Chief Storyteller®, we call this your Better Tomorrow Message™ or BTM™. This exercise is a cornerstone for great messaging and powerful positioning statements.|
|My Name is Alice||Thinking on Your Feet||An exercise based on repetition, My Name is Alice challenges you to think on your feet faster.|
|Delicious & Crispy Tofu||Creativity||Exercise partners build upon previous statements, by adding a new twist. For example, Person A says, Tofu. Person B then says, Rotisserie Tofu. A says French Rotisserie Tofu. B responds with, Crispy French Rotisserie Tofu. And the exercise continues a few more turns. Then a new word starts the exercise again.|
|Boulder Toss||Listening||The premise is simple. The execution is challenging. Participants throw objects back and forth. The participant “describes” an object with just body language and sounds. Each clue paints a picture to the person catching the object. Objects can be any size, any weight, anything… a guitar, space shuttle, spatula, boulder, ant, ???|
|Yes, And||Appreciation||This is a quintessential business exercise. It is designed around the foundation in improvisational comedy of accepting other people’s ideas. Yes, And “forces” you to build upon these other ideas and points of view.|
|Buy More Water||Critical Thinking||A more advanced Smart Exercise, Buy More Water, is modeled after Lincoln-Douglas Debate (our founder’s experience in High School Debate inspired this exercise). Participants are provided a topic and a side – either Pro or Con. Each participant then develops his/her Better Tomorrow Message™, supporting messages, opening, closing, etc. Each participant then attempts to influence, persuade, and inspire the audience with his/her presentation.|
