If You Always Tell the Truth, You Will Never Have to Remember What You Said

Today, was part two of a workshop series on messaging, communication, and storytelling for the Entrepreneur Center @NVTC (Northern Virginia Technology Council). Part one was a week ago.

I co-presented with I.J. Hudson. We shared insights into developing compelling messages. Examples included:  How to answer the ubiquitous “what do you do?”, delivering the five-minute investor pitch, the always-ready message points for media, and message points for getting the word out.

I.J. has a rich career in broadcast media spanning more than 30 years. He offered a variety of practical advice on working with print and broadcast media. One of his suggestions resonated with me…he shared his Dad’s words of wisdom: “If You Always Tell the Truth, You Will Never Have to Remember What You Said.” It resonated with me because I am a huge advocate of speaking from your heart. It’s all about packaging your passion into a compelling business message.
